I don't think this is the root cause, since I was able to copy another set of files with similar attributes, but it did fix the issue in at least one case.
I could remove those attributes and then the same collection of files would copy over without issue. In our case, we could reliably crash the machine by attempting to copy files from the local file system to the Nexis that had been downloaded using a web browser, and thus had Apple's 'quarantine' attributes attached. We're still on an older Dell switch, but I can't see how that could precipitate a kernel panic (I'm open to explanations.)įor what it's worth, I can tell you that I was able to change the problem behavior by removing extended attributes attached to files on the MacOS filesystem.
